Predation alone isn't fully effective for gopher control, but I find cats to be the best hunters, as they hunt for both sport and food. Here’s my cat, Butterfly, teaching me a few tricks.

Gopher trapping is limited to workable soils from mid to late summer through fall, since my trapping technique requires me to locate the main tunnels. This means sandy and soft soils, or areas with irrigation.
